Confidentiality

Confidentiality

What you share in therapy is confidential.

There are some exceptions to this:

  • If I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else

  • If I am required by law to disclose information (e.g. terrorism, serious crime, or safeguarding concerns)

Where possible, I will speak with you before taking any action.

I also discuss my work in supervision, which is a professional requirement.

This helps me offer you the best support.

Supervision is confidential and your identity is never shared.

My supervisor follows the BACP Ethical Framework.

Record Keeping and Data Protection

I keep brief notes about our sessions.

These may include background information and key issues discussed.

Your notes are anonymised, stored securely, and not shared.

I keep these records for one year after our work ends, then destroy them.

I follow the BACP Ethical Framework and comply with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018).
